With Ford, ignore the model year and look at the SYNC version. SYNC 3 gives you wired CarPlay — an adapter makes it wireless. SYNC 4 usually has wireless built in already.

Models commonly shipping with wireless CarPlay built in include the F-150, Mustang, Bronco, Mustang Mach-E, Explorer, Expedition, Edge and Escape — though again this depends on the SYNC generation fitted, not the badge.
Finding your SYNC version
On most Fords: Settings → General → About SYNC shows the version. It takes ten seconds and is more reliable than guessing from the model year, because Ford changed SYNC generations mid-model-run on several vehicles.

Ignore model-year charts for a moment and check your own car directly:
- Plug your iPhone into the USB port with a data cable (not a charge-only cable)
- If CarPlay appears on screen, you have wired CarPlay — an adapter will convert it to wireless
- If nothing happens, your car does not have CarPlay, and no adapter can add it
This is more reliable than any compatibility list, because trim levels and regional specs vary within the same model year.
