Why 60fps matters more than the spec sheet suggests
The Elite 9 records 30fps. The A329S records 4K at 60. At motorway speed that difference decides whether a number plate on a passing car resolves or smears — you get twice as many chances to catch a readable frame. If your reason for buying a dash cam is evidence, that is the single most consequential line in the table.
BlackVue is not trying to win that fight. It is selling remote access.
Why cloud is a real feature, not a gimmick
Cloud connectivity means you can check on the car from your phone, get an alert when something hits it while parked, and pull footage without going out to the vehicle with an SD card. For a car parked on a street overnight, or a company vehicle someone else drives, that is genuinely useful.
It also means a subscription and a data connection to keep working. Budget for that.
The SSD point
The A329S supports an external SSD. microSD cards are the most common failure point in any dash cam — they wear out under constant rewriting, and they usually fail silently. An SSD gives you weeks of footage without overwriting, and is far less likely to die without warning.
Which one
- Buy the A329S if you want the best evidence quality, three-channel flexibility, or you have been burned by a dead SD card. Independent reviewers also give VIOFO the edge on reliability.
- Buy the Elite 9 if remote monitoring is the point — street parking, a fleet vehicle, a car you want to check on from elsewhere. You are paying for the cloud, not the sensor.
